More Than a Meal: Entering 2026 Together

As we step into 2026, I find myself both proud of how far the Community Dining Room has come and energized by what lies ahead. The year before us is about intention, connection, and building momentum—taking what we already do well and using it to deepen our impact across the communities we serve.

At our core, CDR remains focused on something simple and powerful: providing nourishing meals and a welcoming place where people feel seen, respected, and connected. In 2026, we are strengthening that foundation. We are continuing to listen closely to our guests, adapting programs to meet evolving needs, and expanding opportunities for fellowship so that every meal is about more than food—it’s about belonging.

This year, you will see us investing even more in the guest experience. From improving access to information and streamlining how people engage with our services, to expanding family meals and exploring new ways to reach neighbors who may be homebound or isolated, our work is guided by a belief that small improvements—made thoughtfully and consistently—can create meaningful change.

Partnership will also play a central role in 2026. We know that food insecurity does not exist in isolation, and neither should solutions. By strengthening relationships with community organizations, service providers, schools, and local leaders, we are creating clearer pathways to support for our guests. When we work together—sharing space, knowledge, and trust—we are able to meet needs more fully and with greater dignity.

Visibility and awareness matter too. This year, we are telling our story more intentionally highlighting the people, volunteers, and partners who make our work possible, and helping our broader community better understand who we are, what we do, and how we differ. Reducing stigma and inviting participation are key to building a well-nourished community, and that starts with honest, welcoming communication.

Behind the scenes, we are also focused on strengthening our operations and our people. Continued training, safety, and facility improvements ensure that our spaces support the highest standards of care. Just as importantly, we are investing in our staff, volunteers, and board—cultivating a culture rooted in respect, empathy, accountability, and shared purpose. When the people who power CDR feel supported and proud of their work, the impact reaches every plate we serve.

Finally, sustainability remains top of mind. In 2026, we are building toward long-term strength—through thoughtful governance, ongoing staff development, and diversified funding—so that the Community Dining Room can continue to grow responsibly and remain a trusted resource for years to come.

As we move through 2026, we invite you to be part of this continued effort. Your support helps turn thoughtful plans into warm meals, welcoming spaces, and meaningful connections for our neighbors. Every gift—no matter the size—strengthens the work already underway and allows us to grow with care, intention, and impact.

If you’re able, please consider supporting the Community Dining Room by donating at www.communitydiningroom.org. In the coming months, we’ll also be announcing our new monthly giving circle, an easy and meaningful way to provide steady support throughout the year. We hope you’ll consider being part of this next chapter with us.

Thank you for standing with us in 2026 and beyond.
